Have a Mind to be Happy

Happy Friday, peeps! Every time I wear these socks, I think of that old Roger Miller song: "You Can't Roller Skate In a Buffalo Herd." Maybe because a bunch of alligators riding scooters conjures a similar image. Okay, these are both things that aren't real, but Jesus' love is!

Just like choosing Jesus is a choice, so is choosing to be happy. When I'm not mindful of being happy or choosing joy, I need to "knuckle down, buckle down, and do it, do it, do it"--like the song says. Now, I'm not sure if Roger Miller was a follower of Jesus, but the Bible takes authority on choosing joy, too. I like this verse: "Rejoice always" (1 Thessalonians 5:16). What an imperative!

An imperative is a command. This verse is like a God command to always choose joy. Still, God knows about my hearing problem, so in Philippians 4:4, the Bible reminds me to "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"

I'm so grateful for all of the ways God reminds me about his word-even if the reminder comes through "you can be happy if you've a mind to." God talks to his flock in many ways. Today, I'm sharing with you. Make the choice to be happy. Choose friends who choose to be happy and rejoice in God's word with you because Jesus loves you.

Happy Friday! The week may be over, but we are not done spreading God's word! We are Unfinished Women! We hope you will share our blog with others who need to hear the news about the joy of the Lord today.

Wishing you joy and happiness,

Michelle
