What a beautiful day! I am in constant surprise at how nice the weather has been, and how wonderful it feels to have the sun shine on my face, walking around outside in my tee shirt in...wait... is it only March? Tee shirt weather might be the norm in Florida winters, but South Dakota rarely sees weather above 40 in March. Yet, there have been several days I have stood outside, my face turned to the sun, eyes closed, just soaking in the rays!

Today, I was standing outside reflecting on the lent season. Since Julie and I are preparing for "A Day at the Spa" - our spring tea event theme - I am often making lists and planning for this and that (my inner Martha kicking into high gear), but for just a moment today, I stood in peace appreciating the light and warmth of the sun shining on my face...and I found myself thinking of how I feel the same warmth when I know Jesus, the son, is shining his love on me.
I once watched an interview with Matthew LeBlanc. If you don't know who that is, he played Joey Tribiani on the hit tv show Friends. When LeBlanc was asked his favorite thing to do, he replied, "Nothing." Although I loved that answer, I rarely find myself being still enough to do nothing. Even now, my mind is racing through lists of things I want to get done before my spring break ends! (Ah - now you know my secret; I sometimes blog in advance, but I have to get the ideas down as they strike me!) Yet, I stood gazing at the sun today, thinking about how I want that same shining warmth from the son of God. I was doing nothing, just letting the sun shine down on me, thinking about how I wanted to reflect the light of my life: Jesus - the son of God.
Take a leaf out of the Martha and Mary playbook. As important as it is to wash feet, the most important thing is to worship God.
"Be still" (Psalm 46:10).
In April, Julie and I are looking forward to a day at the spa - our "tea" theme. We will be sharing messages about the relationship between self-care, worship, and how taking care of our bodies and each other have Godly purpose. Stop in for a day at the spa!
When: April 5th, 10 AM
Where: Harvest Community Church
Yours in Christ,
